Review: Cover Girl Smoky Shadow Blast....

Monday, December 28, 2009

The good folks over at Cover Girl sent me some of their new Smoky Shadow Blast!! I'm excited to do a review of them after seeing them in both of my CVS'... which is a miracle because they never carry the same thing. **shrugs** lol!

Anyway....Cover Girl describes Smoky Shadow Blast as "It’s a smoky eye tool plus makeup artist all in one shadow stick. Available in six expertly coordinated shade duos with uniquely designed ends, Smoky ShadowBlast lets you create a traditional or colorful smoky eye in two easy steps. The new, double-ended stick features expertly coordinated shades and two precision applicator tips – one for base, one for liner/crease – so you can easily apply, smudge and blend shadow to a smoky perfection."

The great Pat McGrath, makeup artist and Proctor & Gamble Creative Design Director, blessed the product... “COVERGIRL Smoky ShadowBlast takes the fear out of creating a smoky eye; it’s a professional look that’s easy for anyone to create,”

First up... Tempest Blue Smoky Shadow Blast.

The shadow is creamy and goes on smooth even over a eyeshadow base. I love the pigment of this blue....
However, even after going over my lid a couple of times with the stick, the color was spotty and uneven. The light blue side texture was bit grainy...I didn't like its texture at all....
This color is Onyx Smoke...The black shadow side is Gorgeous!! It has a holographic glitter in it.
BUT...after lots of coats and light blending, the color came off spotty, again. The white end of the stick could stand to be a bit darker silver instead of a stark frosty white....

Consensus: I like them but I think they would work great as base color shadow sticks like NYX Shadow Pencils...plus you get, colors so it more bang for your buck. But most shadow sticks are like this. Get the Onyx Smoke and Bronze Fire, which I'm going to pick up on the next Cover Girl BOGO....

Girl, I had the same experience! I have Tempest Blue and Citrus Flair but I'm not in love with them. The two that I really wanted the most was Onyx Smoke and Bronze Fire. I had such high hopes for these but I can't see myself actually buying them...sigh.

Hmmm! Unfortunately, I never have much luck with Cover Girl products.

I was hoping with Lady McGrath on the J-O-B things would be worth a try...

I've recently dived into the drugstore helm but have been spoiled by L'Oreal HIP but have yet to try shadows, just the liners...

Anyhoo...anybody with Rite Aid in the area would probably appreciate this lil tid bit...L'Oreal, HIP included is 75% off. I got the HIP Jelly Balms (certain colors) $3and the Volume "Shocking" Mascara for $4. Love the balms been using them since summer, have yet to try this particular mascara though.

I talk/type too much!!

LMAO!!!
